Hamilton Skin Clinic:

Putting Safety First with Open and Honest Advertising of TGA Therapeutic Goods

At Hamilton Skin Clinic, our priority is to offer clients safe and effective aesthetic treatments while adhering to the strictest standards of consumer protection in our advertising.

In light of this, you may have observed a change in the way we present our injectable treatments. This adjustment follows new guidelines issued by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Australia’s regulatory authority for medical products and procedures.

A Guide to the TGA Guidelines and Recent Changes

On December 18, 2023, the TGA introduced new restrictions, including a ban on terms such as “anti-wrinkle injections” and “dermal fillers.” According to the TGA, using these terms could lead a “reasonable consumer” to interpret the content as promoting prescription medications.

On March 7, 2024, the TGA further refined its guidelines, introducing the following changes:

Prohibiting Additional Terminology: Terms like “wrinkle-reducing injections” and direct references to prescription products were banned, shifting the focus to the service provided rather than specific medications.

Highlighting Outcomes and Safety: The TGA encourages clinics to advertise by emphasizing the potential outcomes of injectable treatments, while clearly communicating that these are medical procedures with inherent risks.

Strengthening Consumer Protection: These updates aim to reduce misleading claims and avoid creating unrealistic expectations, allowing consumers to make well-informed decisions about their aesthetic care.

These updates reflect the TGA’s ongoing commitment to transparency and safeguarding consumers in the aesthetics industry. As regulations evolve, Hamilton Skin Clinic remains fully compliant and dedicated to ensuring our clients are well-informed and confident in their treatment choices.
